Cameras

Cameras added to slates can either be cameras selected from your Gear, new blank cameras or duplicated cameras and are given a default name ‘Camera A’, ‘Camera B’, etc. You can change the name when desired.

To create a new camera in a slate, tap and hold the Cameras button (or ‘+’ button on the website). A menu expands which offers three options:

1. Add a new camera

  1. Blank Camera
Creates a new camera without any data attached.
  2. Duplicate Camera
Makes an exact copy of an already existing camera. At least one other camera is needed to enable this option.
  3. Gear Cameras
Appear in a row, depending whether or not you added cameras to the project’s Gear. When you choose a Gear camera directly from this presented list, all default values assigned are assumed and automatically filled out.

2. Delete a camera

Press the cross in the red box next to the camera’s name.

This is the same on the website.

3. On the logic of cameras

  • Gear cameras offer the most effective and extensive use of presets. When picked directly from the ‘new camera’ menu, all defaults attached to the camera are automatically assumed. This is the fastest way, but may require additional changes to match the actual situation.
  • When a Gear camera is not directly picked from the ‘new camera’ menu, but selected afterwards in the ‘Camera Model’ field (indicating ‘Choose from Gear’), no default values are automatically assumed, but presets connected to the camera are offered in the input calculator. For instance, the ‘Format/Stock’ field displays only presets of formats the camera is capable of. Custom values can nevertheless be entered, regardless of the presets.
  • Blank cameras that you modify to fit your needs can not be saved, but they can be duplicated; as a camera within the same slate or as part of the slate as a whole. In the resulting slate, the camera can further be altered.
  • A camera created under the Template Slate can also be edited whenever a new slate is created ‘Based on Template’ in the same way, by using it as a starting point and modifying the required values.

The Cameras ticket follows the logic of putting values first that are most likely to change with each new slate. Camera Grip and Movement are therefore at the top of the list.

By entering a value under Stereo Camera Model, Setellite assumes you’re using a Stereo Camera and unlocks more fields below.
